Kia ora,
The month began with a visit from Azaria and Carolien. We love seeing them both!
After a cup of coffee and some delicious brownie that Peter made, Azaria spent the rest of her visit driving around the garden and enjoying the winter sunshine.
The mornings can be very cold even on sunny days.
Ann has been eating up the kiwifruit that Peter collected from our kiwifruit vines. Honey decided that she should be sharing and refused to take no for an answer. Then Sox came over, not wanting to be left out.
BUT once she smelt the kiwifruit she acted as if Ann was trying to poison her!
Ann’s cedar tree needed to be repotted for the club show in September. That was a job for Peter of course, and It included a saw, a mallet. a chisel and a huge amount of muscle!
It wasn’t the only tree we repotted. Over the month we managed quite a few with Peter doing the larger ones whilst Ann concentrated on the shohin and smaller trees.
Peter sold a Japanese maple bonsai of his and delivered it to Auckland. We are slowly reducing our collections – keeping only the bonsai we especially love.
It isn’t often that the girls use their beds so we can stretch out on the sofas!
Following lunch in the gardens cafe, we went to the last in a series of three talks about the gardens, this one was on the second half of the Enclosed Gardens.
The bonsai club were quite active during the month with both of us at the monthly meeting and Peter helping out at all four beginners evening classes and full Saturday at a Group Planting workshop.
For our anniversary Peter got a new loco, two carriages, two wagons, fencing, track and some more sheep.
Ann received seven books, a bronze kiwibird and a lop-earred rabbit called Coral since it’s our 35th wedding anniversary.
