June 2026

Kia ora, hello and welcome to our June news page,

Peter had a ‘slight mishap’ whilst going to pick Ann up from her podiatry appointment, and this was after taking the girls to have their stitches checked at the vets. He was stationary, in line at the roundabout, when his foot slipped off the brake pedal, and the car leapt forward straight into the tow bar of the Ute in front. Both Peter and the girls were fine. He then had to call Jarrod for a tow to the local yard, and a call to Tom asking for help to get the girls and me home. Tom collected the girls from Peter first then drove a couple of streets away to pick me up. He said both girls were quiet and nervous until they saw me. He said Sox seemed to visibly relax.

Despite it being a slow speed collision the insurance company wrote Ann’s car off due to its age (21 years old). This meant the girls could not have their daily morning drive around the village until we found a replacement car for Ann. They were not pleased.

Honey refused to come into the garage after her morning stroll around the paddock – why would she when there was no car?

Ann was genuinely shocked at how much ‘stuff’ there had been in her old car. Perfect time for a good sort out!

Ann’s new car is a more up to date version of her old one. It’s still a Mazda Premacy with electric rear doors, but it also has parking sensors all around the car – AND a reversing camera!

The girls are happy as their daily rides in “their” car can now continue.

The June club meeting  was a mix of AGM stuff and a mini buy and sell. Peter managed to sell a few trees so less to feed and water.

Peter had a training day at the Gardens – including a look around the soon to be opened Medieval Garden.

Our local vets were doing some vet training on how to introduce and discuss treatment costs to clients and they asked if we could both come and be part of a couple of training activities. They sent us some detailed notes on the activities – tasks, goals, outcomes etc. Ann felt like she was back in school. Anyway – it turned out that we gave a couple of comments and examples and that was it!

Sox knows just how to beg for attention.

Peter continues to prune some of the photinia hedge.
